Will X-Box 360 Go The Way Of Blu-ray

Hey Maxmaniac’s

It’s the Maxman here with a quick update on some of the industry gossip that seams to be going around at the moment.

As you are all well aware that the format war between Blu-ray and HD DVD has been over for some time now, it has recently been suggested by industry insiders that Microsoft will be installing BD ROM (Blu-ray) drives into their latest version of the X-Box 360.

Apparently a company by the name of Lite On IT (Who supply DVD ROM drives for X-Box 360) are manufacturing these drives for Microsoft. For all I know this could just be an April fools joke because no one from either camp has confirmed anything yet. That’s why I said it was gossip or is it?

Think about it for a second. OK that was a second.

Seriously now, if Blu-ray is the way of the future then from Mr Gates point of view I would think that it would be a no brainer to go this way. Sure the initial cost will suck cause as you know Sony is Blu-ray and the X-Box 360 competes with their PS3 which is already Blu-ray compatible.

But from a gamer’s point of view do they really care about the Blu-ray thing?

No. I don’t think so.

I mean sure they would like the fact that Blu-ray is part of the console but for them it’s about the games. So with this in mind Microsoft knows they can still compete in the game console market but by adding a BD ROM it may just help in getting back the clientele they lost to the PS3 because they were supporting the HD DVD camp.

Did I just contradict myself? I guess I did. Oh well you get what I mean.

Anyway like I said nothing has been confirmed yet but I will keep you all posted. When I know you will know.

Maxman Out.
