Hey Maxmaniacs,
Good to have you back here at AVMaxMan.com
Yes I’m still on top of my game. If I wasn’t you wouldn’t be here. Right?
Anyway the Maxman is looking at some AV furniture products from a manufacturer called “Chatham” and I am quietly confident that you will like what you see, cause I’ll tell you what I sure do.
Yes, yes you’re right the Maxman is a sucker for good wood furniture but I should point out that Chatham is a little different than other manufacturers but more on that later.

Chatham furniture came to fruition in the summer of 1993. Now 1993 doesn’t seem to long ago, but the inspiration for Chatham started back in the late 1970’s when the founder graduated from trade school. He started his business with humble beginnings in his own garage making cabinet doors, bookshelves and other furniture.
To cut a long story short, his company grew and was bought out by a larger one and then eventually sold to a group of investors and sadly in 1992 were closed indefinitely.
With no time for feeling sorry for himself he decided to carry on and give it one more shot.
To his surprise the demand for quality made wood furniture was still there and to this day Chatham is still producing some of the highest quality furniture the Maxman has seen.Located in Amesbury, MA Chatham produces wood furniture for the whole home but today we are looking at what they can do for all home theater lovers near and far.
Features That Make a Difference
Now I mentioned earlier that there were some differences between Chatham and other manufacturers.
Can I just say “Old School Craftsmanship”?
Yes Maxmaniacs we’re not talking fiberboard or MDF and fast assembly here. We’re talking about solid wood, dovetail joints, tongue & groove joints and of course the main ingredient PATIENTS.
- Tongue & Groove as well as Mortise and Tenon Joints are used for extra strength.
- Dovetailed which is an English joint for added strength connects the front and back of a drawer to its sides.
- Mitered corners are used for an invisible finish.
- Frame routed into slides helps prevent shifting.
- Reinforced front and back legs reduces breakage when moving furniture around.
- Solid tops, sides and drawer fronts in ¾” solid wood – No veneer

Final Word
You know what they say “A picture is a thousand words” so if you are into the look of wood grains and stains starting with warm natural tones right through to rich cherry finishes you are gonna fall in love with this solid wood furniture which is built to last for many generations.
Also available is a great selection of other traditional styles, finishes and select hardware to choose from. I bet your making room for this stuff already.
