So I know you’ve all been in this situation where you have all of your home theater equipment on a coffee table, maybe a couple of plastic milk crates covered by tea towels which stand in for speaker stands.

If you laughed you know you’re guilty of doing something similar. Right?

Don’t feel bad cause I’ve been there many times and in some cases I’m still there.

Well the good thing is, is that it can only get better and with a Chatham Entertainment Center it will quickly become the pride and joy of the whole family.

Chatham

These guys officially got their start in 1993 which really wasn’t too long ago. But the inspiration for Chatham began some 20 years earlier when a young man recently finished Trade School and began making furniture out of his garage.

You know how the story goes “He became a success his business grew and was bought out by a bigger one with him retained to oversee production. Things went great the company was bought by a group of investors and then shut down in 1992”

Not so great.

Anyway Mr. Tradesman decided he still loved what he did and with some former employee’s by his side he started all over again.

To his absolute delight he found the demand for quality made solid wood furniture was still there and Chatham Furniture Reproductions Inc. was born.

Quality with a Capital “Q”

Located in Amesbury, MA they are known for their attention to detail and because of their patience some of the styles they produce are like fine wine in such a way that good things take time.

I should point out that they are very traditional with their construction methods. Very old school in fact, dovetail joints, mortise and tenon joints as well as tongue& groove.

These practices are almost foreign nowadays especially when it comes to some of those big box furniture stores that seem to whip things together with some staples and screws and then it’s out the door.

The following are standard methods used in the construction of Chatham products;

  • Tongue & Groove joints plus Mortise and Tenon Joints are standard and used for extra strength
  • A Dovetailed joint which is used for added strength connects the front and back of a drawer to its sides.
  • Mitered corners give clean and crisp invisible finish.
  • Frame routed into slides helps prevent shifting after construction.
  • Reinforced front and back legs help to reduce breakage when moving furniture around.
  • Solid tops, sides and drawer fronts in ¾” solid wood – No veneer

Lastly

As you can see Chatham Furniture doesn’t take any short cuts. They have a great selection of wood grains and various stains starting with warm natural tones all the way through to rich cherry finishes.

You will have no choice but to fall in love with this solid wood furniture which is built to last for many generations.

But it doesn’t end there, they also have available a great selection of traditional styles, finishes and select hardware to choose from.

If you’re not making room for this stuff already you better get started now!
