Hey, hey, hey,

No it’s not Fat Albert it’s the Maxman. Well actually I could probably do with a good workout and I could probably eat better but hey I’m on the old “Seefood” diet.

You know? I see food and I eat it. Get it?

Yeah I know. That’s an old one.

However I am still on a home theater diet and that won’t be changing for a very long time. So let’s have a looky loo at some “Entertainment Centers” from BDI. Cause as far as the Maxman is concerned they are definitely an important part of a good home theater diet, right up there with big screen TV’s.

BDI

Now the word “Passion” is a word I have used to describe these guys before and I have good reason for it too.

If you want to work for these guys you must have a passion (there’s that word again) for design because if you don’t you won’t even get an interview with them.

Anyway BDI has been around for some 20 odd years or so and started out like a lot of other Av furniture makers in such that there was demand for AV furniture but almost no supply.

Located in Chantilly, Virginia. BDI has a team of 8 designers all of whom have totally different styles and influences. So you know that this is a great recipe for design diversification if that makes sense.

Features

As far as features go they are second to none.

The following is a list of these features that are pretty much standard on most of their units if not all;

  1. Various wood veneers or Black and Silver finishes
  2. They provide universal flat-panel mounts, to allow compatibility with most Flat Panel TV’s
  3. Some units have built in mounting brackets that support screens up to 200 lbs.
  4. Hidden storage cabinets keep your media discreetly out of sight
  5. Smoked glass doors
  6. Built in ventilation in the shelves and cabinet
  7. Virtually shatterproof tempered glass shelves in various shades
  8. Internal casters allow you to easily access cables

How much assembly is required?

BDI open rack systems ship flat and require assembly, while enclosed cabinets ship assembled, requiring very minor adjustments. BDI home theater furniture is all engineered to assemble quickly and easily, and no stand should ever take more than 30 minutes to assemble.

You can also download assembly instruction direct from the BDI website if need be.

Final Word

Ok I know you’re probably looking around and saying that this stuff is the same as their TV Stand stuff. Your right it is but I want to point out that an entertainment center doesn’t have to take up the whole wall. Besides the MaxMan feels that some of BDI’s TV stands a light years ahead of other manufacturers entertainment centers.

But hey that’s just my opinion.

You be the judge.

MaxMan Out.
